Project Performance Investigation
Two significant oil and gas equipment supply projects were coming to an end. The UK-based contractor had realized that there were significant lessons to be learned from both projects and requested an investigation into the causes of delays and cost overruns. The two projects were for different clients, but synergies in timing, location, materials and logistics led to the projects being executed in tandem.
Interviews were carried out with key project team members, support function personnel and senior management. Many documents and correspondence items were reviewed. Over the course of a few weeks, and some painstaking analysis, the information was distilled into a few prominent and inter-connected themes. A formal report was prepared and presented, explaining what went wrong and how this might have been avoided.
