Quality Cost Reduction by Process Mapping
The company was experiencing repeated and expensive nonconformity during complex machining of large, high value, critical aircraft components.
A project was established to identify problems and corrective measures in collaboration with the product team, including operators, supervisors, inspectors, engineers and production controllers. Process mapping and defect analysis were used to redefine the manufacturing process and raise awareness of the causes and costs of nonconformity. Customer confidence was restored and production successfully restarted.
