Quality Plan for Factory Closure and Production Relocation
Following a business merger and a strategic decision to relocate production operations, this large-scale mechanical engineering company took several risk mitigation actions.
One of the actions was to establish a quality plan for factory closure, including the safe and secure relocation of operations to two separate sites. This required manufacturing to be suspended and some very large fabrications to be preserved, protected, packed, stored and transported under controlled conditions with full documentation.
The quality plan was successfully established and implemented, including a series of mini-audits to maintain continual surveillance during an inevitably high-risk, change management exercise.
