Rescuing ISO 9001 and AS 9100 Certification
This family run business specialized in machining of complex metallic components, including gas turbine casings and aircraft landing gear. Quality problems had arisen during a period of rapid growth and the increasing demand from blue chip clients. Significant corrective action was required within a short period of time to avert the suspension of third party and client approvals.
Success was achieved by redesigning two key processes, establishing KPIs and introducing data sharing. The hardware stores achieved ERP integration and ISO9001 certification in 6 weeks. The calibration process (2500 gauges) was outsourced to a local laboratory (QSS) in a partnership arrangement, which included helping QSS to gain Rolls-Royce and UKAS accreditation.
