Aerocomponents
A precision machine shop operating in the high-spec aerospace and motor sport sectors
Aerocpmponents took us back to our engineering roots. If you look into the ancestry of modern standards and quality assurance, you’ll find that metalworking and precision engineering is where it all started. Metal machining is one of those unsung industries that underpins the glamour of Formula 1 cars, jet fighters and space stations, to name a few.

Implementation
QFactorial was engaged to re-write (reduce) the system and, at the same time, ensure compliance with the new requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and, in particular, the onerous demands of AS 9100 Rev D. This included a comprehensive overhaul of the QMS, radical pruning of unnecessary paperwork, and an enhanced focus on the leadership and improvement aspects of the standards.
Sector-specific standards provide a much bigger challenge than your basic ISO 9001 QMS. Typically, they retain the detail that ISO 9001 has lost during its evolution from manufacturing to generic applicability. Plus they have their own risks and focus areas to address. Bring it on!
Having guided the company through successful transition and certification to AS 9100 Rev D, QFactorial was subsequently retained in partnership to provide independent assurance through audits and reviews. Three years on, in 2019, re-certification of the QMS confirmed the robustness and longevity of a QFactorial solution, with zero audit findings and “demonstrable improvement” noted in the auditor’s closing remarks.

QFactorial took our paper-heavy QMS and greatly reduced the amount of bureaucracy by distilling the entire system into one manual, eliminating unnecessary forms and procedures. They guided us through the new requirements of AS 9100 Rev D and ISO 9001:2015, including facilitating a successful certification audit.
